Josh Koscheck vs Tyron Woodley fight official for UFC 167 in Las Vegas

Hard-hitting wrestlers UNITE!

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The last time Josh Koscheck (17-7) and Tyron Woodley (11-2) were in mixed martial arts (MMA) action, combat sports fans might remember two very distinct, and different, outcomes.

"Kos" suffered a knockout loss against the resurgent Robbie Lawler at UFC 157, signaling his first-ever Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) losing streak (two). "The Chosen One," meanwhile, dropped a controversial split decision to Jake Shields at UFC 161 in what was widely panned as a "snoozer."

Both wrestling-minded Welterweight standouts will now look to put these bad memories behind them when they collide at UFC 167, a major pay-per-view (PPV) event scheduled to take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Nov. 16, 2013, according to the promotion's official Twitter.com account.

It's a match up between two fighters with similar styles, with Koscheck -- a former No. 1-ranked 170-pound title contender -- getting the major edge in the experience department over the Strikeforce import.

Expect to see Josh Koscheck vs. Tyron Woodley featured on the PPV main card, which will be headlined by Georges St. Pierre, putting his Welterweight title on the line against top division contender Johny Hendricks. The co-featured fight of the promotion's 20th Anniversary event was supposed to showcase a Light Heavyweight bad-blood battle between Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva; however, that high-profile scrap is now in jeopardy.
