UFC Fight Night 26 results: Matt Brown knocks out Mike Pyle in short order

Matt Brown used a series of punches to knock Mike Pyle out in the very first round at tonight's (Sat., Aug. 17, 2013) UFC Fight Night 26 event in Boston, Massachusetts.

The welterweights came to bring the pain at tonight's (Sat., Aug. 17, 2013) UFC Fight Night 26: "Shogun vs. Sonnen" event at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, on Fox Sports 1, as Mike Pyle stepped in for the injured Thiago Alves to throw hands with the streaking Matt Brown.

The pain was indeed brought.

That's because Brown, who came in riding a five-fight win streak at 170-pounds, attacked early with a series of punches. The one that did the initial damage was a clean right hand that slipped past Pyle's defenses.

A follow up knee and some vicious punches on the ground finished the job. Pyle protested the referee's stoppage but it was clear upon replay that the decision to halt the bout was sound.

Brown may not present as a threat to Georges St. Pierre's welterweight title but you can't argue with his results of late. Does he deserve a big jump in competition now?
