UFC 162 injuries and medical suspensions: Silva, Herman and Siver sat for 45 days

New, comments

Now that the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared, it's time to find out who's worse for the wear following the carnage at UFC 162: "Silva vs. Weidman" this past Fourth of July weekend in "Sin City."

USA TODAY Sports

The complete list of UFC 162 fighter injuries and medical suspensions for those who competed at the "Silva vs. Weidman" pay-per-view (PPV) event this past Saturday night (July 6, 2013) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, were released to MMAmania.com earlier today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).

Hurts so good.

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva got benched for 45 days (30 days no contact) after getting KTFO by Chris Weidman in the main event (see it here). Joining him on the "Gee, my head hurts" list is Dave Herman, who also went to sleep in "Sin City."

But they got off light compared to some of the other combatants.

Kazuki Tokudome could be out until next year, unless he gets a doctor to say he's okay. Also making an appointment with his physician is David Mitchell, who had a rough night against Mike Pierce.

Here is the complete list of UFC 162 fighter injuries and their medical instructions.

Kazuki Tokudome: Suspended six months pending clearance from ear, nose and throat doctor or ophthalmologist (right orbital blowout fracture). Minimum suspension 45 days (30 days no contact).

Dennis Siver: Suspended 90 days (60 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.

David Mitchell: Suspended 90 days (60 days no contact) for precautionary reasons. Mandatory follow-up with doctor for post-fight concussion.

Anderson Silva: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.

Tim Boetsch: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.

Rafaello Oliveira: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for left knee pain.

Charles Oliveira: Suspended 30 days (21 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.

Dave Herman: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.

Seth Baczynski: Suspended 30 days (21 days no contact) for right eyebrow and nose lacerations.

Again, just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
