UFC 162 bonuses and awards: Chris Weidman knockout of Anderson Silva earns $50K

The ZUFFA brass handed out its usual post-fight bonus awards to select fighters coming out of the UFC 162 event last night (Sat., July 4, 2013) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Check out who took home the extra coin for their efforts.

USA TODAY Sports

UFC 162: "Silva vs. Weidman" from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.

To the tune of $50,000 each.

The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's heading home with a second sack of simoleons.

Never has a decision been easier than awarding "Knockout of the Night" honors for this event, as Chris Weidman's incredible left hook one hitter quitter on now former Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva ran away with it.

For good reason.

Because there were no submissions on the card, two bouts were awarded "Fight of the Night" and both took place on pay-per-view. Cub Swanson's stoppage victory over Dennis Siver and Frankie Edgar's hard fought decision win over Charles Oliveira earned all four some extra cheese.

Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 162:

Knockout of the Night -- Chris Weidman

Fight of the Night -- Cub Swanson vs. Dennis Siver

Fight of the Night -- Frankie Edgar vs. Charles Oliveira

Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as that information becomes available.
