UFC offers Nick Diaz a fight, but no decisions have been made regarding Octagon return

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the 170-pound division.

Love stinks (yeah, yeah).

Not long after breaking up with his girlfriend, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight number one contender, Nick Diaz, contacted promotion president Dana White, looking for the opportunity to get back inside the cage.

Well, now he's got one.

Cesar Gracie, longtime trainer and manager for the former Strikeforce champion, revealed to BJPenn.com that Diaz has an offer on the table, one he considers to be "kind of neat," but no decisions have been made regarding a potential return.

Yet.

"As far as his fighting and everything. He's been in Vegas, he just got back a couple of days ago. There is an offer on the table, that's all I can say. It's something everyone is looking at right now and discussing with him. Dana has offered him a fight. There is an offer on the table, I can't say who it is, but it's kind of neat I think. But no decisions have been made for sure."

I guess retirement isn't all it's cracked up to be at

Either that or Diaz, who turns 30 in just a few weeks, doesn't feel like going through the headaches of promoting another mixed martial arts (MMA) event. Just last month in Stockton, Calif., fans were treated to "WAR MMA," a regional fight promotion with a unique set of rules.

And a (very) unique promoter.

At this time, no possible opponent has been revealed, but it's hard to imagine that Diaz, still reeling from back-to-back losses following his unceremonious exit back in March, will be looking at a top five contender. Perhaps a move up to middleweight to prepare for this?

Let the speculation begin...
