Invicta Fighting Championships returns TONIGHT (July 13, 2013) to the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, with some seriously high-level women's fights.
MMAmania.com will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of Invicta FC 6 below, beginning with the main card at 9:00 p.m. ET. In addition, we'll deliver up-to-the-minute quick results of all the undercard action much earlier in the evening (beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET).

Headlining the main event will be a thrilling featherweight rematch pitting former Strikeforce women's 145-pound champion Cris Cyborg against former Strikeforce womens' bantamweight champion Marloes Coenen. Cyborg won the first meeting, but the third round TKO was the longest fight she's had in the last seven years. Coenen enters the bout riding a two fight winning streak including a victory headlining the inaugural Invicta event last April.
Also on tap will be a number one strawweight contender fight between unbeaten grapplers Claudia Gedalho of Brazil (9-0) and Japan's Ayaka Hamasaki (9-0). The winner will face Invicta FC 115-pound champion Carla Esparza, who had to withdraw from the event due to injury.
And don't forget former champion Jessica Penne is in action as well as a potential top bantamweight contender match between Lauren Taylor and Sarah D'Alelio which could have UFC implications.

Round one:
Round two: Coenen attempts a takedown but instead pulls Cyborg on top of her. Cyborg lets her up and they trade knees but Cyborg again tosses Coenen to the ground with ease, landing on top in side control. Coenen throws a few elbows from bottom but Cyborg responds with right elbows of her own. Coenen rolls, attacking a leg but Cyborg twists free. Cyborg steps forward, dropping down with a right hand, working some ground and pound but she backs off, allowing Coenen back to her feet. Coenen steps forward with a left hook. Left hand scores for Coenen and a right hand but Cyborg lands some punches. Coenen is covering up, nothing else at the moment as Cyborg has a knee on her side holding her down and looking for an opening. Coenen rotates and Cyborg lets her back up. Coenen tries to clear out the cobwebs with a takedown attempt but gets slammed again. Cyborg is very physically powerful, dropping right hands but she thinks about a leg lock before letting Coenen back to her feet. Heavy leg kick from Cyborg and Coenen shoots in for a takedown but gets stuffed with ease, winding up on bottom as time expires. 10-9 Cyborg
Round three: Cyborg clinches, throwing some big knees from a reverse body lock and she drags Coenen to the ground before letting her up. Coenen lands a right hand but Cyborg scores with a pair of big right hands of her own. They clinch and Coenen scores with a knee but Cyborg drags her down again. Cyborg postures up, dropping right hands from top position. Cyborg backs off and Coenen scores with a big left and right hand but Cyborg takes her down again before backing off. Coenen blocks a right hand but Cyborg scores with knees to the body in the clinch. Cyborg backs off and just UNLOADS a huge combination on Coenen, landing with left and right hooks to the head and body but Coenen covers up, blocking a decent amount of the blows. Coenen actually takes inside position along the fence, scoring with a right elbow. They reverse and Cyborg lands knees on the inside. Cyborg grabs a Thai clinch and scores with huge knees and some elbows. I don't know how Coenen is still standing. Another right hand from Cyborg but Coenen survives. 10-9 Cyborg
Round four: Cyborg opens with some big knees in the clinch and Coenen lands an uppercut, reversing the position and throwing a few knees to the legs. Cyborg grabs a hold and tosses Coenen to the ground, landing short left hands. Coenen throws an illegal up kick and the ref stands them up to check on Cyborg. They're back and Cyborg blasts Coenen with a massive right hand that drops her. She follows Coenen to the ground with punches, passing to full mount and just unloading on Coenen. Coenen is covering up but there's only so much damage a human can take. More right hands from Cyborg and then some big elbows. Coenen crawls her legs up trying to defend by Cyborg shuts her down. Cyborg continues to unload elbows and the ref finally puts a stop to the onslaught. What a beatdown.

115 lbs.: Claudia Gadelha vs. Ayaka Hamasaki
Round one: Gadelha lands a left hand and Hamasaki shoots in for a takedown but gets stuffed. They jockey for position in the clinch and Hamasaki works hard for the takedown but it's Gadelha who puts Hamasaki on her back with an outside trip, landing in half guard. Gadelha scores with left and right hands from top position and she's hunting for an arm triangle while attempting to pass guard but Hamasaki fends her off for now. Gadelha maneuvers Hamasaki towards the fence, dropping occasional punches and overall controlling the Japanese fighter but she lands an illegal knee to the face right as time expires in the first round, which costs her a point. 9-9
Round two: Hamasaki shoots in for a takedown but Gadelha stuffs her with a whizzer and they enter the clinch. Once more, Gadelha scores an outside trip and she quickly passes to side control with a slick transition. Gadelha attempts to mount a few time but Hamasaki shuts her down with some quick hips from bottom. Hamasaki nearly scores a sweep but Gadelha stays strong on top and drops a nice left hand to the head and some rights tot he body. Gadelha passes to full mount, dropping a pair of nice left elbows. She postures up with some heavy left and right hands and Hamasaki can't escape. Gadelha attempts an arm triangle at the end of the round but Hamasaki prevents her from passing to side control until the final seconds. 10-8 Gadelha
Round three: Gadelha opens with some heavy strikes but Gadelha grabs a reverse body lock and again drags her to the canvas. Gadelha has Hamasaki's back with both hooks in, but Hamasaki reverses her, turning into her guard and dropping some right hands. Hamasaki attempts to take her back but Gadelha avoids it and actually winds up on top during the scramble. Gadelha grabs back mount, dropping heavy punches and Hamasaki turns into her, eating more strikes from full mount. Hamasaki is fading and Gadelha thinks about an arm triangle but gives up on it, instead posturing up and dropping big strikes. Gadelha drops some heavy right hands from top position and Hamasaki goes fetal, forcing the referee to intervene.
Final Result: Claudia Gedalha defeats Ayaka Hamasaki via TKO (punches) at 3:58 of round three

135 lbs.: Sarah D'Alelio vs. Lauren Taylor
Round one: D'Alelio opens with some aggressive strikes, throwing a supermanpunch but Taylor responds with a double leg takedown attempt. She transitions to a single leg, taking D'Alelio down briefly but D'Alelio scrambles, staying strong and diving on her back on the ground. D'Alelio is working for an armbar but gives up her position in the process and Taylor spins free, popping to her feet and quickly shooting in for a takedown along the fence. D'Alelio fends her off with a strong wide base along the fence but Taylor is relentless and actually puts D'Alelio on her back. D'Alelio is fishing for a Kimura from bottom but neither fighter can really gain an advantageas the bell sounds. 10-9 D'Alelio

125 lbs.: Leslie Smith vs. Jennifer Maia
Round one: Smith gets things started by rattling off combinations from the outside. She opens up with punches and a head kick but Maia grabs a clinch and presses her into the fence. Smith uses a cross face to back her off but Maia scores with a front kick. Smith steps forward aggressively with punches and takes Maia down with a trip, landing inside her guard. Smith gets overaggressive with ground and pound and Maia pushes her off. They scramble back to standing and Smith goes hog wild with a big flurry of strikes, backing Maia up into the fence where they trade strikes on the inside. After separating, Smith lands a few left jabs and pushes forward with more strikes but Maia lands a nice right hand and a front kick. Smith scores with a head kick and unloads a big combination, winging strikes from every angle. She connects with a spinning elbow and both ladies fire big strikes until the bell sounds. 10-9 Smith
Round two: Both ladies stand toe to toe winging big bombs to open the round and Smith drops down for a kneebar. They scramble and Smith winds up on top inside Maia's closed guard. Big left elbows from Smith and she backs off which allows Maia to pop to her feet. Maia works some straight punches but Smith goes crazy with a high volume of punches and kicks to keep her on her toes. Nice head kick from Smith and they clinch in the cage center with Smith scoring big knees on the inside. Despite the constant onslaught, Maia is holding her ground and she scores a trip takedown, landing inside Smith's guard. Smith attempts an armbar from bottom and she's got Maia's arm extended but they tie up with each other like a pretzel. Both ladies are all tangled up on the ground as the round concludes. 10-9 Smith
Round three: Both ladies slug it out in a crazy exchange to open the third round but Smith's pace forces Maia to back off. Smith lands a big right hand but also an eye poke. They reset and both fighters pick up where they left off as Smith unloads punches in combination. Maia fires right back but Smith staggers her with an elbow on the inside and pours it on with more left and right hands. Maia catches a kick from Smith and trips her, but Smith wins the scramble and takes top position. She starts unloading with big punches from top position and secures mount with a minute left, absolutely crushing Maia with a tremendous volume of strikes. Smith goes crazy from top position but can't secure a finish as Maia hangs on to the final bell.
Final Result: Leslie Smith defeats Jennifer Maia via unanimous decision (30-27x2, 29-28)

105 lbs.: Jessica Penne vs. Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc
Round one: Both ladies open up tentatively as Penne is having trouble believing in her jab. Calanoc lands a pair of nice right hands and she's in control of the cage center early. Outside leg kick from Calanoc and she scores with a combination but Penne lands a straight right hand. Another right hand from Calanoc but Penne responds with a nice uppercut which connects. Very nice right hand from Calanoc turns Penne's head but she gets overaggressive and Penne shoots in for a takedown, dumping her on her back. Penne stands, landing a right hand from above and dives into Calanoc's guard, passing to half guard then immediately into full mount. Penne is working for a guillotine from full mount but instead postures up. Calanoc gives up her back and Penne secures a body triangle, sinking in a rear naked choke and forcing Calanoc to tap with seconds remaining in the round.
Final Result: Penne defeats Calanoc via submission (rear naked choke) at 4:57 of round one

Round one: Calderwood takes control of the cage center, firing off a few short leg kicks. Center responds with a short flurry, working for a takedown and pressing Calderwood into the fence. Calderwood backs her off with a knee and some straight rights as they reset in middle. Nice right hands from Center and Calderwood scores with a huge elbow. Center attempts a takedown but gets stuffed and they clinch. Caldwood scores with foot stomps and some short punches on the inside. Knees from Calderwood and a big right hand, and she unloads a short combination. Push kick from Calderwood and she scores more strikes on the inside in the clinch. Center takes her down in the final 10 seconds. 10-9 Calderwood
Round two: Calderwood opens with some push kicks and outside leg kicks from distance as Center circles to her left. Decent overhand left from Calderwood and she lands an inside leg kick. Calderwood scores with a short combination and they clinch. Calderwood lands with short knees and she follows up with elbows. Calderwood is really having her way with Center in the clinch and Center dives forward with a takedown attempt but Calderwood stuffs it. Center unloads some strikes, actually scoring with a few right hands but Calderwood counters with low kicks. Big spinning back fist from Center comes up short and Calderwood stays composed with strikes from distance. 10-9 Calderwood
Round three: Calderwood opens with some outside strikes but Center shoots in and actually takes her down. Calderwood hits a switch and pops back to her feet but Center takes her down again Calderwood throws her legs up thinking about an armbar, but Center has her stacked up. They're in a big stalemate and after a couple minute of being stuck in the position, the ref actually stands them up. 10-9 Center

Round one: Hyatt steps forward with a combination but Inoue fires back with some technical strikes. Good jab from Inoue and a jab. Hyatt fires off a right hand and a leg kick as both ladies exchange short strikes. They clinch and trade knees but Hyatt pushes Inoue into the fence. Inoue reverses the position and lands some sharp elbows on the inside but eats a pair of knees from Hyatt in response. Good uppercuts from Inoue and Hyatt lands a left hook to back her off and force a reset. Big right hook from Hyatt and she backs Inoue off with an overhand right. Inoue unloads a combination and backs Hyatt into the fence, scoring a trip takedown. Hyatt scrambles but Inoue rolls for an armbar. Hyatt stacks her up and drops big punches until the round concludes. 10-9 Hyatt but that could have gone either way
Round two: Inoue presses forward and Hyatt drops to her back looking for a submission but it gives Inoue top position. Inoue gets on top in half guard, dropping a few punches but taking her time trying to pass guard. Nice right hands from Inoue. Hyatt cagewalks back to her feet but she's still stuck with her back against the fence. Hyatt scores with an uppercut but Inoue unloads a combination. Knee from Hyatt and she throws a big combination until the bell sounds. 10-9 Inoue
Round three: Uppercut from Hyatt and she wings an overhand right but Inoue rolls with it and fires back with a 1-2. Hyatt wings a combination but nothing really slips through Inoue's defenses. Hyatt scores with an overhand right and some short uppercuts, then steps forward with a left to the body. Inoue pops her with a left jab but she needs to turn it up a bit if she wants to win back the round. Hyatt presses forward, connecting with a head kick but eats a jab. Big left hook from Inoue but Hyatt hurts her with a right hand. Knee from Hyatt and they clinch, with Hyatt throwing a knee and elbow on the inside before they break. Hyatt works a left jab but Inoue responds with a combination. Hyatt unloads more strikes, outworking Inoue with a bigger volume. She forces a clinch, throwing a knee but Inoue reverses her. They exchange on the inside with knees until the bell sounds. 10-9 Hyatt

Round one: Yankovich presses forward with some punches but Nakamoto lands a knee on the inside. They clinch and trade knees, but Nakamoto's look more damaging. Huge elbow from Nakamoto and then another elbow. Big knee from Nakamoto and she's got inside position along the fence now. Yankovich is thinking about a takedown now but Nakamoto fends her off, although she surrenders the inside cage position. Big knee to the head from Nakamoto drops Yankovich but Yankovich grabs a leg looking for a leg lock. Nakamoto rolls with it and drops some right hands. Huge right hands, then a massive knee and an elbow. Nakamoto unloads punches on Yankovich until the ref stop it. Damn that was brutal.
Final Result: Miriam Nakamoto defeats Duda Yankovich via knockout

115 lbs.: Tecia Torres vs. Rose Namajunas
Round one: Both ladies wing kicks early and Torres is particularly active. Namajunas steps inside with a huge hook. She steps inside again but Torres tosses her to the ground and drops some heavy ground and pound. Namajunas scrambles back to her feet and wings an axe kick. Stream dies for a minute but it's back. Torres scores with a knee on the inside. Both ladies lands huge punches in the pocket and Namajunas jumps up for a flying armbar! Torres escapes and drops big punches but Namajunas has another armbar and Torres' arm is fully extended. Torres gets back to her feet and throws a huge flurry of strikes until the bell. Wow what a round! 10-9 Torres
Round two: Big straight right from Namajunas and Torres responds with a low leg kick. Another kick from Torres and Namajunas wings a snapping leg kick. Nice right hand from Namajunas and Torres responds with a pair of side kicks. Namajunas misses with a jumping roundhouse kick and an axe kick and Torres wings a head kick of her own that's partially blocked. Big left hand from Torres and she unloads a huge flurry of strikes, backing Namajunas up into the fence. They trade on the inside and Torres is getting the better of it. Torres is just unloading right now! Namajunas recovers and they reset, exchanging right hands. Nice body kick from Torres and Namajunas responds with a right hook. Torres catches a body kick and takes Namajunas down. Namajunas explodes to her feet and jacks her with a right hand. Big flurry again from Torres and Namajunas responds with right hand of her own. Torres unloads another flurry and caps it off with a side kick. Sweeping leg kick from Namajunas knocks Torres off balance at the end of the round. 10-9 Torres
Round three: Namajunas is the aggressor early, winging powerful kicks on the outside. Torres throws a combination but eats a counter right from Namajunas. They clinch and Namajunas scores a hip toss, holding a head scarf and she takes top position in half guard. Torres is active from bottom, throwing up kicks but Namajunas dives back in with half guard from top position again. Torres retains closed guard and Namajunas is throwing short strikes to the head and body. Torres throws her legs up and she's working for an armbar! She's got a hold of Namajunas arm and leg and she scrambles back to her feet but Namajunas takes her down again, passing to half guard. Torres throws elbows from bottom but Namajunas stays on top until the end of the round. 10-9 Namajunas

Round one: Kagan throws a left hook and both ladies fire shots in the pocket. Big combination from Cummins and she backs Kagan up. Kagan scores with a left hook and Cummins fires right back as they clinch in the cage center. Cummins attempts a knee and scores with short strikes on the inside before throwing an elbow. Big strikes from Cummins and she backs Kagan into the fence. Cummins is in complete control physically as time expires. 10-9 Cummins
Round two: They open with some big punches and Cummins slips throwing a head kick. Kagan pounces but can't do much with the position and they're back to standing. Cummins wings several big punches but they're a bit wild. She's still forcing Kagan to back off repeatedly. Kagan steps forward with a straight left and clocks Cummins, dropping her briefly but Cummins gets back to her feet and drops Kagan with a left of her own! Cummins clinches and has inside position along the fence as they both trade knees. Takedown attempt from Cummins and she jumps on Kagan's back. Cummins only has one hook in and she slips off, holding a body lock. Cummins now has both hooks in but she's too high up. Kagan shakes her off but can't completely escape the position. She finally pops free with 10 seconds left and drops a couple left hands. 10-9 Cummins
Round three: Cummins opens up strong with some straight lefts and she works for a takedown along the fence, briefly putting her on the canvas but Kagan pops right back up. Cummins is hunched over working for a takedown in the clinch but she eats a few short elbows. Kagan land a knee and Cummins responds with a right hook as they separate. Leg kick from Kagan but Cummins counters with a nice left hook. Another leg kick from Kagan but Cummins scores with a right hand to the head. Huge body kick from Cummins and she scores with some follow up punches but Kagan recovers. Flurry from Cummins and she initiates another clinch, pressing Kagan into the cage. They both attack with inside strikes and Kagan scores with a left hook. Kagan works some more straight lefts and they work the clinch until the final bell. 10-9 Cummins
