Video: UFC champ Chris Weidman on ESPN 'First Take' squashes beef with Stephen A. Smith

When in doubt, hug it out.

New Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman is the toast of the town following his knockout win over Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC 162, which took place on July 6, 2013 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A rematch is expected later this year, or perhaps first quarter of 2014.

Silva lost his 185-pound belt in shocking fashion after getting clipped with a left hook in round two that turned his lights out (see it again here). No question the new champion would love the opportunity to silence the critics who may attribute his upset win to the Brazilian's antics, rather than Weidman's skill.

But first thing's first.

"All American" is tying up any and all pre-fight loose ends, including his good-natured (we think) beef with ESPN "First Take" host Stephen A. Smith, who was "talking junk" prior to last weekend's "Spider" fight. Smith did, however, give credit where credit was due following the upset victory.

Let bygones be bygones, and all that jazz.
