Video: Chris Weidman on ESPN MMA Live Extra says Anderson Silva rematch is '100-percent next fight'

New, comments

While Chris Weidman is doing the media rounds, UFC President Dana White is flying to Los Angeles to get a rematch date from Anderson Silva.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva "badly wants a rematch" following a second-round knockout loss to Chris Weidman in the main event of UFC 162, which took place on July 6, 2013 from the MGM Grand Graden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"All American" is game.

"100-percent," Weidman told ESPN MMA Live Extra. "Rematch is my next fight. They're saying December, the New Year's show, or possibly February, for Super Bowl Weekend."

Silva lost his 185-pound belt in shocking fashion after getting clipped with a left hook in round two that turned his lights out (see it again here). No question the new champion would love the opportunity to silence the critics who may attribute his upset win to the Brazilian's antics, rather than Weidman's skill.

When and where their second dance takes place all depends on how soon "The Spider" is willing to leave his web.
