Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Josh Burkman will welcome fellow ZUFFA castaway Jon Fitch to World Series of Fighting (WSOF), when they hook 'em up in the promotion's third event at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 14, 2013.
"The People's Warrior" has already won his first two fights for Ray Sefo and Co., including a finish over Aaron Simpson at the WSOF 2 event earlier this year in Atlantic City, NJ. Their 170-pound headliner will serve as a rematch from their UFC: "Fight Night 4" contest, which Fitch won by way of submission (rear naked choke) in the waning seconds of the second stanza.
A lot has changed since then.
The 35-year-old Fitch (24-5) was exiled from UFC after a 2-2-1 run over the past two years while Burkman (25-9) has flourished on the regional circuit, racking up a 7-1 record since leaving Las Vegas.
Anyone think their second go-round ends any differently than the first?
