Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will stage its annual Fourth of July weekend mixed martial arts (MMA) extravaganza from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sat., July 6, 2013.
UFC 162 will feature a middleweight championship contest in the main event when top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter -- and longtime 185-pound kingpin -- Anderson Silva puts his title on the line against undefeated No. 1 ranked division contender Chris Weidman.
Who's gonna win?
That depends on who you ask. Reigning UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre believes the "All American" will squish "The Spider," while top middleweight contender Tim Boetsch is convinced Silva will reign supreme. Now it's time to find out what a few other select fighters think (via MMA Interviews):
Urijah Faber: Weidman by wrestling surprises
Martin Kampmann: Weidman by super hungry tools
Brad Tavares: Silva by second-round knockout
Josh Thomson: Weidman by way of Chael repeat
Lorenz Larkin: Silva all day!
Cisco Rivera: Silva pulls it off
Joe Lauzon: Siva because he's unstoppable track record
Nam Phan: Silva by whatever he wants
Jake Ellenberger: Silva by anti-bandwagon
Brendan Schaub: Weidman by UFC 117 replay (sans triangle)
Mark Munoz: Silva because he's amazing
Anderson Silva comes out ahead by a score of 7-4.
I guess that disproves UFC President Dana White's theory about "every fighter" picking Weidman, though this championship contest has the MMA fan base divided. You've heard from the pros, now I want to hear from you. Who leaves "Sin City" with the belt on July 6?
Opinions, please.
