"I'm one of two people to ever keep Faber from becoming a UFC champion. He will forever be known as the former WEC champion. He will always be a number one contender and never anything more."
-- Even though it's been nearly two years since they last competed against each other, the beef between Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight fighters Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber hasn't fizzled in the slightest. With Cruz sidelined for what seems like an eternity due to multiple knee surgeries since his last fight in late 2011, Faber has been climbing up the ranks and is knocking on the door of yet another world championship fight. After going 0-5 in his last five UFC/World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) title fights, Faber has won back-to-back bouts against Ivan Menjivar and Scott Jorgensen and will be looking to making it three-straight --and hopefully earn another title shot-- with a victory over the "dangerous" Yuri Alcantara at UFC on FOX Sports 1 #1 in August. But as Cruz tells Bleacher Report, the No. 1 contenders spot is as close to a UFC title as Faber will get if he has anything to say about it. "The Dominator" clearly has to unify the 135-pound title belts with interim champion Renan Barao before mixing it up with his longtime rival again, but after coaching against each other on TUF: Live and all the trash talk that has gone down since, the trilogy bout between Cruz and Faber may be more anticipated than ever before.
