After competing on the organization's first two fight cards but missing the second two, Anthony Johnson is ready to return to the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) cage for the fifth event on Sept. 14, 2013.
Who will "Rumble" be facing on that night? None other than mixed martial arts (MMA) bad boy and former Strikeforce staple Mike Kyle.
Even though WSOF officials have not confirmed the light heavyweight match up or any other fights for the card, Johnson spilled the beans about the upcoming bout in a recent conversation with MMA Interviews.
Johnson (15-4) last competed at WSOF 3 where he picked up a unanimous decision victory over former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight titleholder Andrei Arlovski.
After the one-fight stint at heavyweight, Johnson has opted to drop back down to 205-pounds. Since being released from the UFC in early 2012, the 29-year-old has gone 5-0 including three (technical) knockout wins.
Kyle (20-9-1, 2 NC) will make his WSOF debut at the event after scoring a 21-second knockout over longtime MMA veteran Travis Wiuff last month.
"MAK" has been inconsistent of late with only two wins in his past five fights; however, his experience against high-level opposition should help him against Johnson.
