Is Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones excited to be rubbing shoulders with mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Fedor Emelianenko?
Da!
"Bones" was making the rounds in Russia as part of the promotion's recent media tour, which is expected to generate interest in the UFC brand as ZUFFA gears up for its Moscow debut, perhaps as early as next year (or even sooner). As luck would have it, the Emelianenko brothers were on hand for some photo ops (pic here).
Aleksander had just finished wiping the floor with professional tomato can, Bob Sapp (video here).
Jones is expected to put his title on the line against top-ranked contender Alexander Gustafsson, who will look to turn the division on its head at the UFC 165 pay-per-view (PPV) event, taking place on Sept. 21, 2013 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
While Jones was probably just a freshman in high school when Fedor made his PRIDE debut, it's interesting to wonder aloud how these two would have paired up back in the day, if "Bones" was a bit older.
Or now, If Fedor was a bit younger.
