One of the most polarizing characters on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 17, Robert McDaniel, has his next fight set, and it will come against Sweden's Magnus Cedenblad.
The two middleweight competitors will reportedly collide at the recently announced sophomore UFC on FOX Sports 1 event, scheduled to take place Aug. 28, 2013 from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
McDaniel (21-6) did not live up to his own expectations on TUF 17 as he was swiftly taken out by a Uriah Hall spinning wheel kick in the quarterfinal round.
Fortunately, he was given the chance to come back into the competition as the wild card and successful won that fight only to move on the next round where he was submitted in the second round by the show's eventual winner, Kelvin Gastelum.
Cedenblad (10-4) has not competed since suffering a second-round submission loss to Francis Carmont in his UFC debut at UFC on FUEL TV 2 in April 2012.
By the time the fight rolls around, the 31-year-old will have been sidelined for over 16 months, which is by far the longest layoff of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.
UPDATE: McDaniel has denied reports of this match up via Twitter, but has confirmed that he will participate on this fight card. MMAmania.com is working on details and will provide further information when it becomes available.
UFC on FOX Sports 1 2 goes down Aug. 28, 2013 from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The main event of the evening will feature a welterweight rematch between Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann.
