Even though he is on a five-fight win-steak, UFC middleweight contender Constantinos Philippou has parted ways with Team Serra-Longo and will now train with Keith Trimble at the Bellmore Kickboxing Academy.

An intricate member of the famed Team Serra-Longo gym has moved on to a new training facility.

Top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight contender Constantinos Philippou will no long be fighting out of the Long Island, N.Y., gym and has switched camps to train under Keith Trimble at the Bellmore Kickboxing Academy, which is also located in Long Island.

The news first came to light on a recent edition of the MMA Sentinel podcast and Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting confirmed the move with Philippou's manager Lex McMahon.

"He is deeply appreciative of everything that both Matt Serra and Ray Longo have done for him," McMahon told MMA Fighting. "However, Costa felt he needed a change to advance his career to the next level.

"He is now training with Keith Trimble at the Bellmore Kickboxing Academy [also on Long Island, N.Y.] and looking forward to his next fight."

Under the tutelage of the Serra-Longo training camp, Philippou (12-2, 1 NC) managed to climb the ranks to become the No. 6 ranked middleweight fighter on the UFC roster.

After losing his UFC debut on short notice, Philippou has reeled off five-straight victories including a third-round (technical) knockout of Tim Boetsch at UFC 155 last December.

"Costas" was scheduled to face Ronaldo Souza at UFC on FX 8 last month, but was forced to withdraw from the event just weeks before the fight due to a facial laceration suffered in training.

Some fighters and coaches would have hard feelings about an athlete leaving a camp at the height of their career success, but Serra has no such animosity and wishes Philippou the best in his future endeavors.

"Costa's not flying our flag anymore. He went over to Bellmore Kickboxing, just to make that clear," Serra told Stephanie Daniels of Bloody Elbow. "I love Costa. He's a good dude. He just wanted a change. Me and him are always cool, you know, but he just wanted a change. He went a couple towns over to Bellmore Kickboxing with Keith Trimble, who is a very cool guy. It's a pretty cool camp and Longo brings guys over there for sparring, and vice versa. It's all good. It's all friendly, but he's just not going to be carrying the Serra-Longo flag anymore, for sure. I wish him nothing but the best for his career."

Philippou does not have a fight scheduled at this time; however, he, like many others, is currently campaigning for a fight with The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 3 winner Michael Bisping.
