UFC 161, which takes place this weekend (Sat., June 15, 2013) at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, looked much different before (surprise!) injuries decimated the pay-per-view (PPV) card.
Instead of Renan Barao vs. Eddie Wineland and Mauricio Rua vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the main- and co-main events, respectively, Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans and have been plugged in as replacements at the last minute.
To help promote the mixed martial arts (MMA), the promotion teamed up with its broadcast partner, FUEL TV, for UFC 161 "Countdown," an hour-long preview special that provided a behind-the-scenes look as Evans and Henderson prepare for their pivotal three-round Light Heavyweight battle.
In addition to "Evans vs. Henderson," the "Countdown" to UFC 161 special also featured the black sheep of the Heavyweight division, "Big Country," who is raucously riding a three-fight win streak into his match up with Miocic much to the chagrin of UFC President Dana White.
If for whatever reason you don't feel like watching the video up above online right now, or simply would prefer to record it on a DVR at a later date, "Countdown" to UFC 161 will air on the following dates (all times ET):
- Weds., June 12, at 3 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Thurs., June 13, at 2 a.m.
Fri., June 14, at 4 p.m.
Remember: MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 161 fight card on fight night (June 15, 2013), starting with the Facebook "Prelims," which are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET, right on through the FX-televised under card bouts at 8 p.m. ET and then main card PPV action, which is slated to begin at 10 p.m. ET.
See you then!
