Goodbye FX, hello FOX Sports 1.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is getting a new home under FOX Sports Media Group (FSMG) as the television network today (May 9, 2013) announced the broadcast schedule for the debut of FOX Sports 1, which is set to launch on Sat., Aug. 17, 2013.
And it will include a "sick" line up of mixed martial arts (MMA) programming anchored by the promotion's return to Boston.
Sat., Aug. 17, 2013:
3:30 p.m. ET: UFC "Ultimate Insider"
4 p.m. ET: UFC "Unleashed"
5 p.m. ET: UFC "Tonight" (live)
6 p.m. ET: UFC on FS1 prelims (live)
8 p.m. ET: UFC on FS1 main card (live)
Weds., Aug. 28, 2013:
8 p.m. ET: FOX UFC Wednesday (live)
Sat., Aug. 31, 2013:
8 p.m. ET: UFC 164 prelims (live)
Weds., Sept. 4, 2013:
8 p.m. ET: FOX UFC Wednesday (live)
10 p.m. ET: The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18: "Rousey vs. Zingano"
As part of the upcoming realignment, fight fans will ultimately say goodbye to the UFC on FX branded show, as the cable television network is dumping sports programming altogether. In addition, FUEL TV will eventually be re-branded as "FOX Sports 2."
TUF moves to Wednesday.
No fights are official for any of the upcoming fight cards at this time; however, Thiago Alves vs. Matt Brown and Conor McGregor vs. Akira Corassani are under consideration for a "Beantown" throwdown. We'll probably know more (and tell you more) in the coming days now that FOX has made it official.
Stay tuned.
