Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White is a hall-of-famer.
Yes, really.
The Las Vegas fight boss is now the newest inductee into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame, joining the likes of Andre Agassi, professional golfer Stephanie Louden and longtime local high school basketball coach Bill Bobier, among others.
The ceremony was held today (May 31, 2013) at the Orleans Arena, home to the Las Vegas Wranglers ice hockey team as well as the Las Vegas Sin lingerie football team.
White, a "giant in the community," was honored for his "dedication and commitment to sport" and proceeds from today's event will be donated to various scholarship funds, youth groups, and community outreach projects in Southern Nevada.
With tickets going for $250 a pop, that's a decent sized donation.
Uncle Dana has been getting accolades left and right. Earlier this year, he was named Honorary Patron of the Phil (video here) for "revolutionizing" the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) and "establishing UFC as the #4 overall sports brand on Facebook, as well as his philanthropic activities, donations and awards."
What a guy.
