The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today issued its list of medical suspensions for UFC 160: "Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2," which took place on Sat., May 25, 2013, from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Considering the damage sustained by a handful of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters on the pay-per-view (PPV) main card, as well as the "Prelims" under card on FX and Facebook.com, it should come as no surprise to see the extensive list of mixed martial arts (MMA) competitors who were flagged for follow up visits with their doctors.
Chief among them is Mark Hunt, who broke his big toe (see the gnarly pic here) in the first round of his co-main event Heavyweight showdown with Junior dos Santos, which he later revealed limited his movement, possibly preventing him from avoiding a knockout loss that was set up by a ridiculous backward spinning heel kick (watch it here) in the final minute.
Or maybe not.
"Super Samoan," as well as Gray Maynard -- who got taken out by a brutal barrage of T.J. Grant strikes in their Lightweight clash -- could be out up to six months unless their doctors give them the green light to return to competition sooner.
Surprisingly, Glover Teixeira was also given a lengthy suspension after he made quick work of James Te Huna, locking up an inspirational guillotine choke that helps would-be car jack victims in Stockton, Calif., become local heroes.
The good news, as with most lengthy suspensions, is that it is most likely more of a precautionary measure.
Here is the complete list of UFC 160 injuries and their medical instructions:
Antonio Silva -- Suspended until June 25, 2013, and no contact until June 16, 2013, after suffering technical knockout loss.

Gray Maynard -- Suspended until July 25, 2013, and no contact until July 10, 2013, because of a dilated right pupil suffered in knockout loss. Must receive clearance from a physician or he will be unable to return to action until Nov. 22, 2013.

Max Holloway -- Suspended until June 25, 2013, and no contact until June 16, 2013, because of nose laceration suffered in split decision loss.
Colton Smith -- Suspended until July 10, 2013, and no contact until June 25, 2013, because of cheek laceration suffered in technical knockout loss.
Khabib Nurmagomedov -- Must receive clearance from a physician for possible left knee injury or he will be unable to return to action until Nov. 22, 2013.
Stephen Thompson -- Must receive clearance from a physician for possible left foot injury or he will be unable to return to action until Nov. 22, 2013.
Brian Bowles -- Suspended until July 10, 2013, and no contact until June 25, 2013, because of possible right hand injury suffered in technical knockout loss. Must receive clearance from a physician for possible left foot injury or he will be unable to return to action until Nov. 22, 2013.
Estevan Payan -- Suspended until July 25, 2013, and no contact until July 25, 2013, because of multiple facial lacerations (see them here) suffered in decision loss.
Again, just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
