Prior to the UFC 160: "Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2" weigh ins on Friday (May 24, 2013), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier hosted a question and answer session with mixed martial arts (MMA) fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cormier (12-0) is a former Olympic wrestler turned MMA fighter and has fought a majority of his fights under the Strikeforce banner where he became the Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion. Upon moving to the UFC earlier this year, "DC" has gone 1-0 with a victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in his debut at UFC on FOX 7.
In the 40-plus minute Q&A, Cormier discussed the UFC 160 fight card, which features a main event between his good friend and training partner Cain Velasquez and No. 1 contender Antonio Silva, his 2011 altercation with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, a potential move to 205 pounds and the attempt to save Olympic wrestling.
The 34-year-old also touched on a number of other subjects from the dreaded UFC jitters he suffered in his debut against Mir, seeing his friend Luke Rockhold knocked out by Vitor Belfort at UFC on FX 8 last Saturday (May 18, 2013) and much, much more.
