Alexander Gustafsson vs. Jon Jones? 'Mauler' says fight against 'Bones' is 'on'

Whoa, whoa, whoa ... wait ... slow down ... what?

USA TODAY Sports

What's this?

Yesterday we posted a picture of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones getting chummy with Fedor Emelianenko in Russia (see it here). Shortly thereafter, top 205-pound contender Alexander Gustafsson said he was headed to Moscow.

Today, "The Mauler" says a fight against "Bones" is "on."

Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson in Moscow?

UFC President Dana White recently said the promotion was headed to Russia in 2013 for a live event (see those comments here) and longtime M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein was recently spotted at UFC on FUEL TV 9 in Sweden (pic).

Where Gustafsson currently resides.

Nothing has been announced or confirmed by UFC and should not be considered anywhere remotely close to official, as Jones (who said he wants this fight) still has to be medically cleared from his recent toe injury, but for fans expecting fireworks in the 205-pound division later this year, this is certainly encouraging news.

Just not for Lyoto Machida.
