Vitor Belfort and Luke Rockhold had themselves a steady war of words in the lead up to tonight's (Sat., May 18, 2013) UFC on FX 8: "Belfort vs. Rockhold" main event middleweight match-up at the Arena Jagaura in Jagaura do Sul, Brazil. A win would inch both back to the title picture and improve their already high ranking in the 185-pound weight class.
Round one saw Rockhold open with a strong head kick that missed so badly he slipped to the mat. Belfort couldn't capitalize at that time but came hard and fast at the earliest opportunity, landing a few big shots that had the former Strikeforce champion pressed against the cage.
Then, it happened.
Belfort suddenly and without warning, unleashed an incredible spinning head kick that landed flush on the button. Rockhold dropped immediately and while he didn't go out completely, "The Phenom's" follow up punches on the ground finished the job.
