Chael Sonnen has pecked away at Wanderlei Silva with comments in recent weeks and on Tuesday (May 14, 2013), "The Axe Murderer" finally provided a response.
Since just days after failing to capture the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight title from Jon Jones at UFC 159 last month, Sonnen has harassed Silva verbally and through social media, saying he was going to settle the score with the Brazilian for their in-car confrontation years back and setting a deadline to accept a fight.
Silva remained quite while Sonnen continued on with his antics, but on the most recent edition of FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight," the former longtime Pride champion fired back with a grisly message.
"Jon Jones and Anderson Silva have been too nice to Chael," Silva said in a message through reporter Ariel Helwani. "I want to suck his blood. I want to smell it. Not just fight, not just fight. I want to hurt him. Chael is a joke, man. He is going to be second forever. He is never going to be first."
According to a report from Helwani, Silva claims he has yet to be officially offered a fight with Sonnen, however, he found the threat of a deadline to accept a fight to be hysterical.
Sonnen, the co-host of "UFC Tonight," was on-hand to hear Silva's rebuttal, which provided him with the perfect opportunity to give a reply of his own to Silva's gruesome comments.
"I think the real news there is that Wanderlei Silva actually put together a coherent sentence that somebody actually understood," Sonnen said. "But, I can assure you Wanderlei, I will not be signing a contract for you to suck on any part of me. I suggest you go to a bath and find yourself."
The talk between the growing rivals continues to heat up and while no date or location for this inevitable match up has been set at this time, it's just a matter of time until a showdown takes place.
