Maximum Fighting Championship's (MFC) thirty-seventh mixed martial arts (MMA) event is in the books as last night (May 10, 2013) the organization traveled to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, for MFC 37: "True Grit," which took place inside the Shaw Conference Center.
The event headliner was a bantamweight bout that saw Anthony Birchak and Ryan Benoit rouse the crowd for 15-minutes with a complete display of MMA action that included striking, grappling, submissions and ground-and-pound. After three hard-fought rounds, Birchak was awarded the decision victory to improve his professional record to 10-1, including five-straight wins.
Birchak will now fight for the vacant MFC bantamweight title against an unnamed opponent later this year.
The co-main event of the night was much quicker and more one-sided than the main event as hometown hero Luke Harris quickly submitted Jason Zentgraf with a neck crack just two minutes and 11 seconds into the first round.
