That didn't take long.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight Leonard Garcia has found a new home with Legacy Fighting Championships (LFC), as on Friday (May 10, 2013) "Bad Boy" signed a multi-fight contract with the organization.
Garcia is expected to debut against Rey Trujillo at Legacy FC 21 on July 19, 2013 in Houston, Texas.
News of the signing was first announced on the most recent edition of "Inside MMA" on AXS TV; however, the financial terms of the contract were not revealed.
Garcia (15-11-1) is currently on a career-worst five-fight losing streak, all of which took place under the UFC banner and ultimately led to his release from the world's premier mixed martial arts (MMA) organization last Wednesday (May 8, 2013).
Prior to his most recent UFC stint, Garcia also struggled to find consistency under the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) banner. In Garcia's last 10 fights overall, he is a dismal 2-7-1 with the lone victories coming against Nam Phan and Chan Sung Jung by split decision.
Upon hearing news of his UFC release, Garcia left his longtime training camp at Jackson's MMA and plans to join Team Alpha-Male for a fresh start and train alongside the likes of standout fighters such as Urijah Faber, Chad Mendes and Joseph Benavidez.
The 33-year-old will look to turn thing around when he meets Trujillo (14-10), a fighter who has also struggled to find consistency throughout his career but will enter the fight with Garcia on the heels of back-to-back first-round knockout victories.
Legacy FC 21: "Huerta vs. Hobar" goes down July 19, 2013 and MMAmania.com will pass along news of the results of Garcia debut bout with the organization.
