UFC on FUEL TV 9 Results: Diego Brandao chokes out Pablo Garza in round one

Is Diego Brandao a legitimate threat at 145 pounds? Or just an aggressive wild man with a suspect gas tank? It was up to UFC on FUEL TV 9 opponent Pablo Garza to find out.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in action earlier today (April 6, 2013) with UFC on FUEL TV 9: "Mousasi vs. Latifi," emanating from the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14, Diego Brandao, looked to secure back-to-back wins for the first time under the ZUFFA banner when he went to war against the consistently inconsistent Pablo Garza.

Mission complete.

Gone was the rabid pitbull of yesteryear. In his place was a mature, patient and calculated aggressor who was able to pick his spots and display a well-rounded offense. Garza tried to play the waiting game and pick his spots, but was largely ineffective.

And how about that huge slam?

Despite a significant size advantage, "The Scarecrow" was unable to keep himself from getting dumped to the floor and once he was on the canvas, it was academic. The Brazilian made minor adjustments before locking up a fight-ending arm-triangle choke in the second half of round one.

Welcome to "the mix," Mr. Brandao.
