Melvin Guillard isn't going to let a little thing like an arrest warrant -- or no place to train -- keep him out of the cage.
"The Young Assassin" has been paired off against fellow Ultimate Fighter (TUF) alum Mac Danzig as part of the upcoming UFC on FOX 8 fight card, scheduled for July 27, 2013 at the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington.
UFC officials announced the bout earlier today.
Guillard (30-12) has been dreadful as of late, going just 1-4 in his last five fights and dropping back-to-back bouts to Donald Cerrone at UFC 150 and Jamie Varner at UFC 155. He left the Blackzilians camp to return to Jackson's MMA -- only to get turned away at the door due to outstanding assault charges (details here).
He's due in court next Wednesday.
Danzig (21-10-1) hasn't fared much better. While the vegan warrior has managed to keep his nose clean outside the cage, he's failed to lock up consecutive wins in nearly five years. The TUF 6 champ is 5-6 under the ZUFFA banner and needs to make a statement this summer if he wants to stay employed.
Or face the UFC firing squad.
No other bouts have been announced for the promotion's return to network television; however, we'll keep you up-to-date on all the UFC on FOX 8 news and notes as they develop. In the meantime, let's get some early predictions on this lightweight fight.
Who ya' got?
