Michael Bisping promised to knock Alan Belcher out when the two met inside the Octagon in the co-main event of UFC 159: "Jones vs. Sonnen," which took place last night (Sat., April 27, 2013) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
He failed to deliver on that promise.
Not only did he not knock "The Talent" out, "The Count" failed to record a knockdown throughout the three round middleweight bout. It was a rather plodding affair, in fact, as the two played what amounted to a rather boring game of chess. Bisping utilized his usual strategy, heavy on footwork and sticking and moving, while Belcher was uncharacteristically lax throughout much of the contest.
This after the two promised fireworks.
The end mercifully came thanks to an errant finger that went slashing across Belcher's eye (see the GIF by clicking here), surely bringing back painful memories of the detached retina that nearly ended his career and stole his vision. The doctor's called for the stoppage, and the British bad boy earned his decision.
Boo birds singing the whole way.
