Rising lightweights Michael Chiesa and Reza Madadi will collide in a 155-pound showdown at UFC on FOX 8, which is scheduled to take place at KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., on July 27, 2013.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officials announced the Lightweight mixed martial arts (MMA) match up yesterday evening on UFC.com.
Chiesa (9-0) will make his return to action since winning his official UFC debut fight against Anton Kuivanen at UFC 157 earlier this year. "The Maverick" weathered an early storm from his Finnish foe and managed to not only come back, but to score a second round submission in the process.
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 15 winner will be looking to keep the good times rolling after an incredible performance on the show which saw him defeat the likes of Justin Lawrence, Jeremy Larsen, James Vick and then Al Iaquinta in the finals.
Medadi (13-3), meanwhile, is coming off the best performance of his career, dominating a large majority of his recent fight against TUF 12 finalist Michael Johnson and finishing him off in the third round of their Swedish standoff. "The Mad Dog" would be 3-0 inside the Octagon if not for some questionable judging in Brazil against Cristiano Marcello and he will likely be bringing his A-game once again.
UFC on FOX 8 will feature a pair of compelling 170-pound bouts between Rory MacDonald vs. Jake Ellenberger and Robbie Lawler vs. Tarec Saffiedine. The main event, which is expected to showcase Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga, has yet to be announced and/or made official.
