Two Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veterans, Spencer Fisher and Yves Edwards, will collide at UFC on Fox 8, which takes place at KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., on June 27, 2013, according to FOXSports.com.
"The King" and "Thug Jitsu-Master" have combined for 95 professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fights, including 34 Octagon appearances.
Fisher has been competing in the sport since 2002, compiling 24 victories in 33 career appearances. Five of his nine losses, however, have come in his last six bouts. And Fisher is currently in the midst of a dangerous three-fight skid, dropping his most recent bout to Sam Stout via unanimous decision in their trilogy bout at UFC on FX 4 in June 2012.
Regardless, Fisher -- who relies on a tenacious attack -- is still a dangerous veteran of the sport with skills on the mat, as well as on the feet, which must be respected.
Edwards, meanwhile, has been in the MMA fight business since 1997, going up against multiple high-profile opponents such as Nate Marquardt, Josh Thomson, Matt Serra, Jeremy Stephens and many, many more. His style is a blend of aggressive Brazilian jiu-jitsu and smooth kickboxing, which is likely the genesis for his "Thug-Jitsu Master" moniker.
He was last seen inside the Octagon dropping a split decision to Isaac Vallie-Flagg at UFC 156 back in Feb. 2013.
UFC on FOX 8 will feature a pair of compelling 170-pound bouts between Rory MacDonald vs. Jake Ellenberger and Robbie Lawler vs. Tarec Saffiedine. The main event, which is expected to showcase Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga, has yet to be announced and/or made official.
Hang tight.
