With one of his biggest mixed martial arts (MMA) events of the 2013 combat sports season just around the corner, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White returns with his latest viral promotional offering.
Indeed, before we can even touch UFC 159, which takes place this weekend (Sat., April 27, 2013) from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., we must go behind-the-scenes at UFC 158, which took place last month (March 16, 2013), featuring a main event between Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz.
Swizz Beatz in da' house y'all!
The real footage begins with Antonio Carvalho backstage, telling White that he thought referee Yves Lavigne stepped in too early to stop his fight against Darren Elkins. In mid conversation, Lavigne appears from around the curtain to explain his decision, telling him it was like a building going down.
Whoops.
Patrick Cote gets some hard-hitting love from Bobby Voelker after their Welterweight scrap, while Nate Marquardt tries to figure out what went wrong after his knockout loss to Jake Ellenberger (watch it here), apologizing to his corner for his performance. White is then seen inside the Octagon, praising Johny Hendricks and Carlos Condit for their "Fight of the Night" that resulted in a unanimous decision win for "Bigg Rigg."
Then, it's the calm before the storm as St. Pierre and Diaz prepare to do battle.
Post-fight, Diaz is heard talking about the wrestling of "Rush" as White assures him that he "looked fucking good." He continues to go on about the Canadian's mat skills in a conversation with Dan Hardy, who shares his sentiments about having to counter St. Pierre's dominant top game. It all ends at the press conference (watch it here), with Diaz making his final remarks and then literally exiting stage left.
And those are just the highlights! Enjoy the full episode up above.
