"When these two just weighed-in - not weighed in but squared off face-to-face, you know they walked up there and they were cordiale or whatever, but when they got nose-to-nose Cormier said, ‘You're in big trouble, buddy. Big, big trouble.' And he was basically telling Frank [Mir], and Frank just stood there and stared at him."
-- Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White recounts his experience standing in between Daniel Cormier and Frank Mir during their pre-fight staredown (see the pictures here) in an interview with Karyn Bryant of MMA Heat. The two heavyweight competitors met face-to-face for the first time during Thursday's (April 18, 2013) UFC on FOX 7: "Henderson vs. Melendez" pre-fight media day in San Jose, Calif., and Cormier felt inclined to share a few words with Mir as they locked eyes. What Cormier said was inaudible for nearly everyone watching; however, White was fortunate enough to be just inches away from the two big men as they stood toe-to-toe and managed to hear everything. The heat between Cormier and Mir has grown over the past few weeks ahead of Saturday's (April 20, 2013) showdown at the HP Pavilion, and it appears the Strikeforce crossover is looking to make a statement when he takes on the former UFC champion in his debut with the organization. Be sure to tune in to the official UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins (watch them here at 7 p.m. ET) to see if there are any more fireworks between Cormier and Mir -or anyone else on the card-- as they square off for the final time before fight night.
