It was only a matter of time.
Embattled transgender mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Fallon Fox will make her first appearance on national television as part of the upcoming Championship Fighting Alliance (CFA) 11 event from the Bank United Center in Miami, Florida, on Friday, May 24, 2013.
The card airs live on AXS-TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
Fox (2-0) will battle Allanna Jones in the semifinals of the CFA women's featherweight tournament on a card headlined by veteran heavyweight and former Strikeforce fighter Valentin Overeem, taking on the recently un-retired Mike Kyle.
From AXS TV Fights CEO Andrew Simon:
"Fallon Fox's story transcends the MMA community and has led to spirited debate on the topic of transgender athletes involvement in professional sports. AXS TV is proud to provide her and all the CFA fighters the opportunity to compete in front of a national television audience."
"Spirited debate' is putting it mildly.
UFC heavyweight Matt Mitrione was suspended for his recent tirade on Fox (read it here) and UFC Women's Bantamweight Chamion Ronda Rousey called the situation "unfair" (see why here). For a before-and-after picture of Fox click here.
CFA 11 will also feature Luis Palomino vs. Robert Washington, Alexis Vila vs. Czar Sklavos, Mike King vs. Oscar Delgado, and Sean Soriano vs. Elvin Brito for the CFA interim featherweight title.
So ... who's tuning in?
