Two of the brightest prospects ever to come out of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) duked it out last night (April 13, 2013) as Kelvin Gastelum took on Uriah Hall in the co-main event of The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hall was a heavy favorite heading in, particularly because of his brutal knockouts during the 17th season, but Gastelum was not intimidated, and that helped him out in a big way.

Early on, Hall's strategy was perplexing. He kept his hands low, was a bit too patient and was consistently backed up into the cage, moving straight back rather than circling.

Perhaps he was trying to sucker Gastelum into striking exchanges near the cage, but all he got for his trouble was a big takedown and clinch attempts, which took him out of his element.

After completely surrendering the first round, Hall got back into the game with some powerful striking attacks on the feet and by reversing some of Gastelum's aggression on the ground with some sweeps and takedowns of his own, including a nasty suplex.

With the fight even heading into the third, Hall again didn't keep the bout on its feet and Gastelum was able to take him down and grind him out in the final seconds, securing the win via split decision and taking home the coveted six figure contract.
