Cat Zingano beat the breaks off Miesha Tate last night (Sat., April 13, 2013) in the third round of their 135-pound No. 1 women's contender eliminator match at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale, which took place at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Alpha," however, did more than just impress in her Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) "Fight of the Night"-winning debut and clinch the top Bantamweight contender position. Indeed, Zingano -- who kept her perfect mixed martial arts (MMA) record (8-0) intact -- will now coach opposite UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey on TUF 18, which is scheduled to debut on the new FOX Sports 1 network on Sept. 4, 2013 (see poster here).
After the first-ever TUF coed season wraps, Zingano will then collide with Rousey at a later date with her belt on the line. Even though Rousey had hoped for a Tate victory and rematch because of their rivalry (read more here), "Rowdy" was quick to point out after her winning performance that she'd be "ready" for Zingano when the time came.
And it apparently can't come soon enough for the UFC, which is already putting in the proactive promotional work to market the female match up.
