Just a few hours from now the second-ever Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight bout will take place at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, and Miesha Tate, one of the two ladies scheduled to enter the cage, believes she is, "in for a hell of a fight."
"Cupcake" will make her Octagon debut tonight (April 13, 2013) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, when she takes on the undefeated Cat Zingano in a high stakes match up that will determine the No. 1 contender in the women's 135-pound weight class.
Tate is by far the more notable name of the two due to her time as champion of the now-defunct Strikeforce organization and rivalry with current women's champion Ronda Rousey; however, Zingano is not to be underestimated, and Tate is aware of such.
The 27-year-old is expecting a handful from Zingano and as she told Heidi Androl following Friday's (April 12, 2013) TUF 17 Finale weigh-in event, she is not looking past her undefeated opponent.
"I think a lot of the general fans may not know who she was, but I've been following her career for quite a long time and it's about time we meet up in the cage," Tate said on the TUF 17 Finale weigh-in show on FUEL TV. "Some people may be underestimating her, she's relatively unknown, but I'm definitely not and I'm in for a hell of a fight but that's what I'm here to do."
The winner of Tate vs. Zingano will not only fight Rousey for the belt, but first will coach opposite "Rowdy" on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) reality show.
Who will walk away as the top female contender? Find out tonight.
