Controversial Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight veteran Matt Riddle has found a new home with Legacy Fighting Championships (LFC) as today (March 8, 2013) "Deep Waters" signed a multiple-fight contract with the organization.
MMA Junkie first announced the signing and the 27-year-old confirmed the news on his official Twitter account.
"Yep I'm fighting @legacyfighting can't wait it's gonna be a blood bath," Riddle wrote.
The MMA Junkie report nor Riddle mentioned the financial terms of the contract or a potential opponent for Riddle's debut with LFC.
Riddle (7-3, 2 NC) is best known for his appearance on season seven of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) reality show and subsequent 12-fight stint under the UFC banner, where he was released from in late February after testing positive for marijuana for the second time in his past three fights following a UFC on FUEL TV 7 bout against Che Mills.
During his five-plus year tenure with the UFC, Riddle picked up notable wins over the likes of Dan Cramer, DaMarques Johnson and John Maguire. It appeared Riddle was just hitting his stride as a fighter up until the somewhat sudden release.
Since parting ways with the UFC, Riddle has been very outspoken regarding his thoughts on the organization, saying he doesn't think he would go back to the UFC even if asked.
MMAmania.com will pass along the name of Riddle's opponent for his LFC debut when it becomes available.
