After the great Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter purge of early 2013, nine-fight Octagon veteran Jacob Volkmann was left without a place to fight.
His mixed martial arts (MMA) free agent period didn't last long.
Indeed, after recently inking a deal to compete under the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) banner, "Christmas" already has a dance partner for his upcoming promotional debut in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 14, 2013: Strikeforce veteran Lyle Beerbohm.
Volkmann shared the good news from his official Twitter.com account:
I was just offered Lyle Beerbohm on june 14th.I hope he takes it. @mmaworldseries

And today, Jason Chambers, WSOF color commentator, confirmed that the Lightweight fight was indeed green-lit for "Sin City:"
Lyle Beerbohm is officially fighting Jacob Volkman June 14th in Vegas at @mmaworldseries !!!

Volkmann was most recently involved in an exciting fight with Bobby Green at UFC 156 in Feb. 2012, losing via technical knockout and signaling a sour end to an impressive run (6-2) in the 155-pound division. Throughout his career, he's been called a boring wrestler, but in recent bouts, Volkmann has found himself in exciting affairs.
His debut in WSOF will likely be the beginning of a rightful journey back to the UFC.
Beerbohm, a noted finisher, has been a professional MMA fighter since June 2007. "Fancy Pants" has most notably competed in Strikeforce, with his biggest fight to date being a first-round submission loss to grappling god Shinya Aoki.
His only other career loss came to Pat Healy, who was recently integrated into the UFC after Strikeforce folded.
No other bouts or exact location are known at this time for WSOF 3.
