A couple of bantamweights are headed to "Dirty Jersey" as Erik Perez and Johnny Bedford have been booked to face off at UFC 159 on April 27, 2013 as Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) invades The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Bedford announced the matchup on his official Twitter account:
"Brutal" is currently riding a three-fight win streak (2-0 UFC) and is coming off a knockout (KO) victory over Marcos Vinicius last December at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 16 Finale. Prior to his fight against Vinicius, Bedford had been sidelined for nearly a year due to injury.
Perez, on the other hand, is currently riding high with eight consecutive victories (3-0 UFC) of his own, knocking out Byron Bloodworth most recently in the very first round at UFC 155. "Goyito," who calls Jackson-Winkeljohn Mixed Martial Arts home, previously wowed fight fans at UFC 150 when he dispatched of Ken Stone in just 17 seconds.
The Mexican-born fighter looks to keep his momentum going as he takes on an equally hot Bedford who has no plans on letting up himself.
UFC 159 will feature a light heavyweight title fight between division champion Jon Jones and former two-time number one middleweight contender, Chael Sonnen, and also boasts a collision between British bad boy Michael Bisping taking on Alan Belcher.
One of these fiery bantamweights will suffer their first loss inside the Octagon...but who?
