Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) promised Canadian mixed martial arts (MMA) fans a future title fight.

Now you've got one.

UFC Interim Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao will put his temporary title on the line against new division number one contender Eddie Wineland in the main event of UFC 161, which will take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on June 15, 2013.

That's according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

Barao (30-1) is fresh off a fourth-round submission victory over Michael McDonald at the UFC on FUEL TV 7 event earlier this year in London. It was the Brazilian's first title defense since beating out Urijah Faber for a chance to keep the seat warm for the injured Dominick Cruz, who still does not have a timetable for his return.

His loss is Wineland's gain.

While he's riding back-to-back wins in the 135-pound division, Wineland (20-8-1) likely gets this title shot by default, since outisde of Faber and Cruz (and now "Mayday"), there aren't many contenders to choose from. See the official bantamweight rankings here to judge for yourself.

Well fight fans, this is your new headliner. Thoughts?

Keep in mind, UFC 161 will also feature two pivotal light heavyweight bouts -- Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Mauricio Rua and Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans -- are currently slated to take place on the pay-per-view (PPV) main card.
