UFC on FUEL TV 8 bonuses: Wanderlei Silva knockout of Brian Stann banks him an extra $100K

The UFC handed out its usual bonus awards to fighters coming out of the UFC on FUEL TV 8: "Silva vs. Stann" event last night (Sat., March 2, 2013) in Satiama, Japan, and all three were more than deserving.

UFC on FUEL TV 8: "Silva vs. Stann" from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.

To the tune of $50,000 each.

The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to three out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.

UFC President Dana White, who was not in attendance at the show, tweeted just before the co-main event that he was hoping Mark Hunt vs. Stefan Struve and Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann would save the show, which had been absolutely dreadful up to that point.

They delivered in a big way.

Silva's war with Stann was particularly special, earning "Fight of the Night" honors and establishing itself as the early favorite for "Fight of the Year" by the time the 2013 fight campaign is over. Not only did "The Axe Murderer" pocket $50K for the best fight, he doubled up with "Knockout of the Night" honors for sleeping Stann in the second round.

Not to be outdone, and because there was no submission on the card, White awarded Hunt a "Knockout of the Night" bonus for his jaw-breaking walk away knockout of Struve in the co-main event.

Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 157:

Submission of the Night -- XXX

Knockout of the Night -- Wanderlei Silva, Mark Hunt

Fight of the Night -- Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann

Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
