Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann fight results UFC on FUEL TV 8, Round 1

Although it wouldn't have a great deal of divisional relevance at either middleweight or light heavyweight, the latter the weight the bout was contested at, the Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann showdown in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 8 last night (Sat., March 2, 2013) at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, was going to be fun nonetheless.

In round one, Silva opened by circling around the cage while Stann pressed forward. It didn't take long before the two started unloading punches against the cage. "The Axe Murderer" appeared to land the hardest first, scoring what may have been a knockdown but just as easily could have been a slip.

Either way, they were banging.

Then, Stann unleashed his fury, landing a hard couple punches that also could have earned a knockdown, though it was murky because the Brazilian immediately went for a takedown he couldn't complete.

Amazing.

Before long, they were back in the center of the Octagon, throwing bombs and thrilling the fans who waited the entire night for action this good. Stann got a little too excited and popped Silva in the nutsack leading to a short stoppage in the action halfway through the round, giving each guy some time to recover after such a furious opening couple minutes.

Once they restarted, they stayed patient for another minute or so before yet again getting against the cage and just throwing wild haymakers that were landing hard and heavy for both guys. At one point, Stann was knocked down before popping back up quick and knocking Silva down, who also popped back up quick.

INSANITY.
