There's a high-stakes featherweight contest brewing for the upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 10 fight card, which doubles as The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Brazil 2" live finale at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Brazil, on June 8, 2013.
Hometown favorite Rodrigo Damm will get a chance to get himself back on the winning track when he faces struggling Japanese import Mizuto Hirota. With the way UFC has been cutting fighters in recent weeks, this is likely a "loser leaves town" bout.
After an electric start to his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, Damm (10-6) has failed to generate any momentum since 2008, going just 2-5 over his last seven, including a split decision loss to Antonio Carvalho at UFC 154 earlier this month in Montreal.
Hirota (14-6) hasn't fared much better.
After a successful career overseas, the Nagasaki native went 0-2 under the ZUFFA banner, starting with a decision loss to Pat Healy in Strikeforce and ending with a similar result against Rani Yahya at UFC on FUEL TV 8 in Japan. This could be the last hurrah for the Shooto standout.
Anyone think he gets it done in hostile territory?
UFC on FUEL TV 10 will feature a heavyweight main event rematch between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Fabricio Werdum, in addition to the TUF: "Brazil 2" live finale between the two remaining contestants for the sophomore season of the combat sports reality show.
