We knew it was coming. Now we now when (and where).
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White today (March 29, 2013) announced the organization's return to "Beantown," as the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion will make its debut on FOX Sports 1 at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 17, 2013.
The SICK card is still fairly healthy at this time, as no fights (or fighters) have been attached to the late-summer event.
UFC is getting a new home under FOX Sports Media Group (FSMG) as part of the network's upcoming realignment (see how it came to be here). Fight fans will ultimately say goodbye to the UFC on FX branded show, as the cable television giant is dumping sports programming altogether.
In addition, FUEL TV will eventually be re-branded as "FOX Sports 2."
The last time ZUFFA made a trip to New England was for UFC 118: "Edgar vs. Penn 2," which brought the house down in late 2010 and also featured Randy Couture's submission win over blustering boxing blowhard James Toney. If I had to wager, I'd say we can expect to see this emotionless bastard make an appearance.
As for the rest? Stay tuned.
