Hey, look who's back.
Former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) Bantamweight Champion Brian Bowles will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon when he tussles with George Roop at the upcoming UFC 160: "Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2" pay-per-view (PPV) event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 25, 2013.
MMA Junkie brought word of the pending match-up earlier today.
Bowles (10-2) hasn't competed since a submission loss to fellow WEC import Urijah Faber at UFC 139 back in late 2011. His loss to "The California Kid" left him at 2-1 since graduating to the big leagues and he's been sidelined with injuries ever since.
He turns 33 in June, so it's now or never.
Roop (13-9) reinvented himself -- yet again -- by dropping down to 135 pounds following back-to-back losses at featherweight. The change of scenery did him good, as the former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) hopeful took a unanimous decision win over Reuben Duran at UFC 158 just last month.
Can he capitalize on Bowles' ring rust?
UFC 160 will feature the second showdown between UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez and 265-pound "Bigfoot" Antonio Silva. Former division kingpin Junior dos Santos will try to get back into the title picture against Mark Hunt while Glover Teixeira makes his case for a run at the 205-pound title opposite James Te Huna.
