UFC on FX 8: Nik Lentz vs Hacran Dias booked for Brazil with Manny Gamburyan injured

Top Brazilian prospect Hacran Dias is now slated to take on former lightweight Nik Lentz, not former WEC title challenger and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 runner-up Manny Gamburyan, who was once again forced off a card because of injury. Nik Lentz will put his undefeated (2-0) Featherweight record inside the Octagon on the line when he collides with red-hot 145-pound standout Hacran Dias at UFC on FX 8, which takes place at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil, on May 18, 2013.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made the announcement earlier this evening, alerting mixed martial arts (MMA) fans that "The Carny" will replace an injured (again) Manny Gamburyan, whose latest setback was not detailed nor was a possible timetable for his return revealed.

Meanwhile, Lentz will bask in combat sports' latest example of schadenfreude, looking to build on the momentum he has established 10 pounds lighter with a victory over "Barnabe." The former Lightweight pounded out Eiji Mitsuoka at UFC 150 in Aug. 2012, which he followed up with a unanimous decision over Diego Nunes at UFC on FX 7 earlier this year.

If Lentz can make it three straight against a talent like Dias, he could very well crack into the Top 10 of the division.

Dias is riding an impressive nine-fight MMA win streak that dates back to Nov. 2009. In fact, the Brazilian standout, 28, has just one blemish on an otherwise perfect professional record (22-1). In his Octagon debut at UFC 147 in June 2012, Dias looked sharp, easily handling the always dangerous Yuri Alcantara en route to a dominant unanimous decision.

Dias is one of the brightest prospects out of Nova Uniao, a team that boasts the likes of UFC champions Jose Aldo and Renan Barao, among others.

UFC on FX 8 features a Middleweight fight between Belfort and former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion, Luke Rockhold, in the main event. Constantinos Philippou and Ronaldo Souza have also agreed to tangle atop the international card.
