What's the latest fad in mixed martial arts (MMA)? Getting hurt and pulling out of UFC on FOX 7!
Just hours after we brought word that Dan Hardy has exited stage left (see what happened here), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has once again announced a change to the April 20, 2013 fight card slated for the "Shark Tank" in San Jose, California.
Francisco Rivera, your services are no longer needed.
Taking his place will be T.J. Dillashaw, who like Jordan Mein before him, cruises into the HP Pavilion fresh off a first-round knockout back at UFC 158 last weekend in Montreal. In fact, his dominant win over Issei Tamura was his third straight, pushing his record to 7-1 and giving him a clear path to title contention.
Just don't expect Hugo Viana to roll over.
"Wolverine" (7-0) is also knocking on the door to bantamweight contention after pasting Reuben Duran at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 16 Finale last December. It was the Brazilian's second-straight win since his mid-summer debut, though he has just one finish in seven professional fights.
Time to see what he's made of.
UFC on FOX 7 features lightweight champion Ben Henderson squaring off against Strikeforce staple -- and its last 155-pound kingpin -- Gilbert Melendez. Undefeated Strikeforce grand prix winner Daniel Cormier -- who like "El Nino" is also switching sweaters for the first time ever under the brightest of spotlights -- is set to take on former heavyweight champion Frank Mir.
Whoot!
