Well now ... this is interesting.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre will defend his division title against 170-pound number one contender Johny Hendricks at a pay-per-view (PPV) event to be named later this year.
Should be about six months or so, according to the champ (see why here).
That gives you, the gambling fight fan, plenty of time to make a decision about where your money goes on fight night. Do you want to lay a few greenbacks on St. Pierre, who opened at -225? Or roll the dice in hopes of a bookie-busting upset from Johny Hendricks at +175?
You can also just lurk for awhile over at Best Fight Odds and see if the line moves in your favor.
While it's still early, it should be noted that a St. Pierre betting line hasn't been this close since he opened at -180 against B.J. Penn at UFC 94 way back in late 2008. Considering how that fight played out, it probably should have been -1800.
I went there!
Anyway, "Bigg Rigg" will (hopefully) get his crack at the crown in the latter part of his 2013 fight campaign, after outpointing Carlos Condit in their "Fight of the Night" at UFC 158 -- the same event that saw "Rush" grind out an uninspired win over Nick Diaz. That said, I need to know who among you will be laying heavy metal on the bearded brawler.
Anyone?
