Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran will continue his mixed martial arts (MMA) exile abroad when he collides with ONE FC veteran Rodrigo Ribeiro at Dubai Fighting Championship (DFC), which is scheduled to take place at Madinat Arena, Mina A' Salam in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on May 10, 2013.
MMACanada.net recently passed along the Welterweight fight announcement, which will undoubtedly serve as a featured fight of the night for the "Middle East’s biggest MMA promotion."
"Semtex" is apparently still having visa issues, preventing the British brawler from traveling stateside to compete under the Bellator banner. He was forced out of the promotion's recent 170-pound tournament because of them shortly after beating the brakes off Rudy Bears at the Bellator 72 show in Tampa, Fla., in July 2012.
Rather than remain inactive, Daley accepted a bout against Patrick Vallee at Cage Contender 16 on Feb. 23, 2013, at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght, Dublin, Ireland, winning via second round knockout (flying knee).
He'll look to add another finish to his growing tally, which now stands at 22 (technical) knockouts, when he takes on "Ximbica."
And that might not be too difficult, considering the Brazilian jiu-jistu black belt sports a losing professional record (9-10) and is riding back-to-back defeats. Ribeiro was last spotted at ONE FC 5: "Pride of a Nation" in Aug. 2012, where he was throttled by Phil Baroni in one minute via soccer kicks and punches.
Don't blink … if you can somehow find a way to watch it live.
