Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debuted in Boston back in August of 2010 with UFC 118, a pay-per-view headlined by a lightweight title rematch between B.J. Penn and Frankie Edgar as well as the infamous Randy Couture vs. James Toney 'superfight.'
It was a homecoming for UFC President Dana White, who grew up in Boston before moving out to Vegas to start working in the fight business.
Since then, while the promotion has held several events in New Jersey, it has yet to return.....until now.
UFC President Dana White broke the news following the UFC 158 post-fight press conference this past weekend, although details are still murky:
"We'll be going back to Boston again this year. We'll do Boston this year...sooner than people think."
In recent weeks, White has also spoken out about a potential fight taking place in New York this year, but this is the first time Boston has been brought back into the conversation.
MMAmania.com will have further updates on the upcoming UFC event in Boston as they become available.
